Crikey, a month since last time???
I get out late, having slept in. On the way I check out Newbrighton, but it doesn't give me a good feeling (flat and uninteresting). On the way, I test the camera and find the batteries dead. Need to check that at home before leaving.
So first Manresa, where it was crowded with surfers and doggy-people. There were some interesting looking areas, but no fish action at all. Then I headed down to Sunset where it was fairly empty and nice to be out. I fished with the 6wt TCR at Manresa, but for some reason didn't feel right with it today, and switched to the 10' #9 XP after driving down to sunset.
I managed to leave the trunk open, when heading down the ramp at Manresa. Fortunately the guys next to me noticed, and asked if they should close it for me. Thanks!
I saw dolphins at sunset, and some nice pelicans. The bait guy I talked to had caught some fish, about 1/hr, having fished since 7am. Some foamy flats areas to fish here, but no fish. At one occasion it felt like I had a hit as I went to pick up the line. Sharp tug and the rod went bendo, but it didn't stick. Dang.
Later in the day we were down at Moran beach, around 4-5pm. Low tide, and kelp beds nearby. Looked like an interesting place for a low tide evening outing.
