Loch Lomond opener. Me and Dominic, who's excited about going.

We hit the line of cars and trucks with boats at 6:15, waited about 30 minutes in line at the gate, then another 30-40 minutes to rent a boat, as there was only one guy down there at first, and he was also selling licenses to folks. Half an hour later another guy comes down, and things speed up a bit.

They're checking all boats carefully, and also all electric motors. Maybe also big tackle boxes. Between the gate and the launch they've set aside an inspection area for boats. Another park employee was checking motors and stuff at the dock area.

One guy in line this morning was drying his boat with a towel, to help him pass.

Fish were caught, but not by us. Lots of people trolling for trout with some success.. others looked like they were casting for bass by the tulies. We got lucky and got the last row-boat, but I'm beginning to wonder if all the noise of the rowboat (when I'm rowing) scares the fish off. We were trolling with spinner, and also with skewered worm (eew, gross), carolina rigged, between 8-10am. Kindof depressing to not get any hits when others were catching. I think I'm going to get a used motor, as the weekend $65 day-fee for a motorboat feels prohibitive.

Dominic got tired of the boat after about an hour. Another bonus of the intended motor.. he can drive and it will be more of a fun outing for him.

The stretch beyond the island, and also the stretch close to the dam seemed productive for trout. Water is pretty clear.
