Well, hell... if the fishing is only 15 minutes from home, I'll go again for a little while.
It is 9:30 or so. Same weather as yesterday, but the fog is a little higher up. Quiet on the beach, with a few birds by the surfline.
I fished pretty much the same spots, and again it took about 15 minutes before I found a perch. Those little rips can be quite intense, but it was all good and fun.
Unfortunately, after releasing that fish, I noticed that my braided loop on the shooting line was coming undone. That's a first! Of course, the second reel wasn't with me, and I didn't have the tool with me in the car to repair the braid. I ended up going up to a grassy area, and turning the entire shooting line around, putting some half-hitches in the loose braid. I figured my chances of hooking a fish big enough to pull out all my shooting line was pretty darned slim, and it would let me continue fishing for a little longer. I managed the switch without any major tangles, but it took some time.
Fortunately this happend after the fish, not before, as I would have been much more annoyed by the delay if I hadn't already caught something. When I got back to the beach, I couldn't remember exactly which scallop I'd been fishing, and a bait-guy had taken up what looked like maybe it. I said 'hi' to him.. I think he may have been Eastern European.. he didn't want to chat, anyway. I fished for about another 10 minutes, maybe, and didn't find any more fish. Time to go to work at 10:30.
