Went back to Newbrighton this morning to get an early start before heading to work. Surf is much higher today, so I tried using the Sage XP 10' 9wt rod, with at 30' Hi-D shooting head, to cast farther. Fished for about 50 minutes, but no sign of fish near the shore. Really pretty rough surf. Saw some terns and pelicans diving further out. Want a boat ;). Met some cayakers heading out. Took some pictures of the beach. Sunny and pretty out. No wind to speak of.
Here is a pic of the new stripping basket, etc. Click for a larger view.
I dropped by at Ernie's and picked up 25' of T14 for the 9wt rod. The talk there was about folks catching stripers now. Fun.
