We decided to spend the evening up at Loch Lomond, where it is nice and quiet. Of course,
the fishing rods come with. I spooled on my DT-6-F line, to use with my little 8 1/2' 6/7wt
lamiglas rod, as it can sometimes be windy there, and the 3wt might not cut it.
I strung up one of the casting rods with a spinner. The other with a hook and bobber.
Therese went and bought a can of worms. The boys couldn't keep out of the water as
usual, and Linus got the wettest, as usual which resulted in a timeout in the car.
Anyway.. a big latino family showed up as well and was interested in the fishing, so all of them hung out on the little dock watching/fishing. Dominic & Linus got tired of the fishing pretty fast, but they don't get tired of someone else fishing.. they just don't quite have the patience for it yet themselves.
Therese caught a fish! First one in many years. On the worm-bait rod. They tossed it back before I could get a picture though. After that, our new-found friends sat on the dock with our casting rods, for pretty much the rest of the evening there. We were worried that some park employee would come by, as the adult likely didn't have a fishing licence.
Pretty and sunny out here. I cast my little bluegill popper in the first cove, and got a lot of hits. They were all really small fish though, so I only hooked a few of them, and only landed 2. I need to make a smaller fly, some sort of buggy terrestrial, maybe out of foam. On the other hand, it was nice to see that it wasn't just the Westlake Pond fish that like this little popper.
