Drove all the way down to Sunset beach to discover I'd left the fishing licence at home. Drove back, got waffles, and returned to the same beach. Wow, that sucked. I almost cried.
Before I came to sunset though, (pre-disappointment) I looked at Manresa and spotted a couple of flyfishermen down there; looked like the guy from Fremont and another. Seeing them there helped me decide to move on. When I got to Sunset I spotted another couple of flyfishing guys down there, but then I got all discombobulated by not having my licence with, so I forgot about them for the time being.
Anyway, after returning and heading down to the beach around 9 or so (light tackle again -- agonized a little over what to use), I met those two. But first I cast in a likely looking spot near the parking lot and had a small barred on my first cast. Now that is pretty gratifying, even if it is small. Anyway, the two fellows were locals; one named Allen and I forget the other guys name now. They had done pretty well. Both using fairly heavy outfits.
I headed north to check out the hole by the sign, but it was occupied by a couple of lawnchair folks with their bait rigs. I fished that area on both sides of them, but didn't have any hits. Then I worked my way back to the parking lot, and caught a nice walleye and 2 more small barreds. All but one fish, including the very small perch, took the #6 surf miki with the largish eyes. Go figure.. last time they were all after the worm fly.
Weather was foggy but warm; tide was incoming.
