Around early afternoon, I drove out to Waddell and tried fishing there. Just needed to get out. Very sunny and warm in santa cruz, super-foggy at Waddell. The wind was up too, from my right. Beach was very pebbly, the surf was too rough and it was too hard to fish. I met a couple of folks from Monterey/Carmel in the parking lot; the lady couldn't figure out what I was up to with the waders, until she finally figured out that I was fishing. She thought I was going on a promenade in the surf, for fun. Went down to the beach and tried casting. Hard with the wind, and there is a bit of debris in the water. Eventually, I snagged my flies on something big, and lost them. Walked back to the car and put on a single, on the remaining leader, then went back and cast some more. Had to cast over the left shoulder the whole time. Nice to be out in the fresh air, though. I checked out Scott Creek beach on the way back, but it was even harder.
