Drove down to manresa again this morning to give it a try. Fished for maybe 1 hr 45, starting around 9:30 am. Rough surf, and I got rather wet; almost got dunked twice, as unexpected big waves came my way. I almost lost my footing and went down, but didn't. Sunny with a little haziness. Not many people on the beach. (later found out there was a big event at Maverick's going on today, which would explain the unusal absence of surfers) Big waves breaking far out. There is structure there that looks fishable, but no fish in sight. Some pebbly areas, that I have now come to associate with fishlessness.
I need to go somewhere else now. Things don't look good for the surfperch derby on Saturday. Maybe bait/grubs from the piers?
One interesting report; I talked to Ernie today, who told of a guy who caught a nice steelhead on grubs, at manresa a couple of wednesdays ago. Neat. Otherwise the fishing has been pretty darned slow. The river needs more rain, and there probably won't be too much happening there tomorrow.
