Moss landing beach, south, with Nils. He brought his gear set up for grubs, shorts and jacket. The water looked pretty fishable, with moderate waves. Some kelp in the surf. Sand is rough, but gets better as we go south (not too far). We fished from around 3:30 - 4:30 pm.
Nils needs a little help with the basics of casting his spinning outfit, but gets the hang of it fairly quickly. He seemed to have a good time, even though no fish were caught. We got passed by a bunch of people on horses, leaving manure in the sand. Nils got tangled up and needed to redo his leader. On the way out we talked to a guy who had fished around here, who said he never caught anything on this beach, but further south by the dunes / condos was good, and further north (Watsonville) was also good.
We fished right after a 5' high tide. I guess I'll scratch moss landing from my list of places to fish, and explore the dunes by seaside next.
