February 28, 2009. Sand Crab Classic
well, silly me should have written this the week after. Now I don't remember as much. But I did catch fish, and took a lot of pictures for Allen.
Early morning check-in, and all that, in the usual manner. Started fishing at RDM with Patrick and some other dudes. Fishing while photographing, but Deva's buddy Keith Munger was with us and photographing as well. Kindof hard to be concentrating on two things at the same time, but I got some good shots, and less fish so I was happy enough with how it went.
At some point I switched beach and drove down to Manresa where I hooked up with some other guys. Noonish, I had to leave to go to the weigh-in to be there for photos.. those guys went south of the parking lot and (of course) found a school of fish to harass. Dang!
Somewhere I caught this fish, but don't remember where now. Photos taken with my
Nikon D70 and 28mm f/2.8 E manual focus lens. Since getting the D300, the D70 can
now be a backup/fishing camera. I hope I don't drown it.

Patrick casting. The weather was very very similar to last year, except no rain at the
weigh-in party.
At Manresa I snagged this thing in the surf.. first I thought it was a bottle, but turned
out it was a homemade rod spike. I ended up giving it to Allen, who could use it.
