Monday june 22nd, 2009 -- Manresa Beach

Finally got out again, and decided on Manresa. Getting the gear together, I realized I hadn't glued the felt sole back on the boot after it almost came off during the last outing. Fortunately, I had a tube of shoe goo, and it worked. High tide is around noon. Off I go.

I get down there and check things out from the parking lot. Lots of fishermen out, mostly soaking bait at the likely looking holes.

I fished 11-2pm going north, past the shingle condos. Some nice foamy flats to try, and that is where the one perch was caught. Felt some small tugs at another time, but it was small. At one time, I saw dolphins jumping close in, just beyond the breakers. At another time, I snagged a mole crab.

Nice to be out. At one point I switch to the #9 floater, but it is a pain to cast, and I think I need a #10 for that to work with this rod. I'm fishing the XTR today, and I'm finding my timing to be off a little, and am almost wishing I had just stayed with the 10' #9 rod for this trip too, now that I'm in sync with it, instead of switching.

Big'ol rip, but it is full of surfers..
Small BSP saved the day from the skunk.

Walked back toward the parking lot, and headed homeward. I looked at Newbrighton, but it was too full of beach people to do any fishing there.
