I drove up to Sacramento this morning, after having spent the night in Concord. I'm at the Gristmill Recreation area a little before 9am. A couple of other guys are rigging up; they are also part of the lesson. John and Dave, I think their names were.
Jeff was great. I left a little after 2, having reached some point of diminishing returns (tired arms). Good casting instruction, then toward the end, some discussion of fishing tactics and techniques. Good stuff. I used both the 6-er and the 8-er, and found that the heavy reel for the 8 works quite well. It'll be good for the 9 and 10 as well ;)
Dropped the 8-er in the river, and so it has been christened. No name yet, though..
Use longer leaders for floating lines. 20' leaders no problem
