Some sort of record for not surf fishing! Last time was.. letsee.. September 16, 2011. Last year I paid for a fishing license, and never used it. My only fishing was in Sweden, which was fun, but... Soo.... its summer, things are slow, and I'm thinking about fishing again. Got my gear all set up yesterday at home, and packed it in the car. I drove down to RDM, but found it full of kelp salad, and nowhere else to go, really, except seascape, and now shower there, etc. etc...
This evening I went to Seacliff, and got myself a Poppy Pass. Then off to Manresa for a little evening fishy. I'm trying for stripers; the Winston 8wt with the Outbound short 10wt intermediate line. Sara on point, and a surf miki on the dropper.
Nice evening to be out. Some kelp here too, but not unfishable. This setup works fine, though a No.9 would be good too, and useable with the bling rod. But this winston is a beast. After sunset I have one grab from a small perch, but it pops off before I see it. Ok, so not a complete skunk. Good to be back in it.
