Kayak fishing with Deva.

We launched at 6:30, about, and I fished for bait a bit outside the harbor in the kelp beds. Kinda fun, and I got about 6 of the sardines and put them in Deva's live-bait-tube. Deva doesn't bother, fishing a swimbait with rockfish fly on a dropper, mostly, as well as another rod with frozen squid.

Anyway, we do a ton of paddling, ending up outside Woodrow St., drifting almost to Natural Bridges, as the wind is blowing us east and the swell is coming in from the west. I have some hits on the live bait, and one hit once when fishing my yellow bunny-fly, but I don't catch anything. Deva gets an under-ling, and a rockfish that I fried up a couple of days later.

Weather starts out as described, then goes sunny/hot/calm, then overcast with wind from the west and rain. Peeing in the yak is definitely a pain, and I manage once by kneeling and pulling the FJ down enough. Later I just decide to head in, and have an excruciating last 20 minutes.

All in all we were out 7 hours (yikes), and I'm wiped out for the rest of the day. Following Allen's advice, I get a pork burrito, take a warm shower, and take a nap. Allen says yeah the fishing was probably slow due to the funky weather and low pressure front coming in.
