Little evening outing.
Gear: the bling-bling setup (Albright 8wt + Nautilus NV 8/9), with the SA Saltwater taper WF-9F line. Works great!! I wanted the light rod to make it easy on the arm. I felt the Winston 8wt at home, but it feels about twice the weight.
I fished RDM from about 6:30 until 8:00pm. Very flat water, pleasant casting, but no fish. Foggy-ish. Started at the parking lot, and walked toward the cement ship, but ran into kelp salad, then red tide, so I turned around to go south again.
Albright rod is nice and light to cast, and tosses the 9wt floater with ease. Nice to have figured out a working floater setup for the surf. It also balances nicely with the reel, when holding it by the handle.
Some wildlife out; otters and seals outside the breakers, marbled godwits on the shore, plus an assortment of gulls.
