Saturday May 24th, 2014. Manresa beach.

Feeling in the mood, I prep'ed all the gear last night to head down to the beach today. Overcast and nice looking waves. I rigged up the 6wt TCR with the intermediate line and started with this. I ran into another AFE parent in the parking lot, coming up from surfing. He fishes too.

After a few minutes the sole of my left boot comes loose. (Is this the same as I fixed last fall, or the other shoe?) Ugh and @#$%^! Surfers out, a few other fishermen. Then another flyfisherman. Switchrod and t-14.

Casting works best when I focus on keeping the rod tip high on the backcast, and that little flick of the wrist going out. The intermediate line casts fine.. feels a little light (running line sticks to rod sometimes) but works pretty well.

A little further on I run into Richard (trim) and Mark (myflyzdown). Both with double handers (Mark with a ONE 5126). At this point I switch reels to use the outbound type 8. A little more fishing and I get rid of the skunk via a small perch. Nice to be out. I should have been out earlier and fished the incoming tide.

On the way back I (finally) go by Best Buy and pick up a waterproof camera. Look forward to some photos.
