Saturday May 17th: Rogue river at Elk Creek campground.

This day included a little bit of exploratory fishing, or at least some wading and casting.

Will at the Ashland Fly Shop suggested trying at the campground at Elk Creek. It is a nice spot, and all the salmon fishing gear guys are somewhere else. We parked at the upstream end of the campground and I fished for way too short a time. The intermediate line + T14 sunk too deep, and I snagged a lot of river stuff. I re-regged to the floating skagit head and it got better, but this took up a lot of my time.

Will had said to fish at the upstream end of the campground, and at the downstream end around or past Elk Creek. I didn't look at the downstream section. Next time. The campsite looks nice.

I like the wading staff I picked up earlier in the morning. Alissa took some nice photos.

Previously we had traveled to Crater lake, and met up with the oboist section (Michael, Sara, and Michael's son Ben) and had a nice time. Dinner at Vicki's parents' house in the evening, so time for fishing was pretty short.

On the way to Crater Lake we also stopped at the hatchery just a little further up the highway from Elk Creek, and looked at the 'Holy Water'. Looks nice.
