Perchfishing at Seascape beach, walking southeast toward Manresa. I got there around 7 and drove around looking for the access.. the directions from Glenn seemed clear enough, but the little beach access sign was gone. Fortunately another fisherman showed up, and pointed at the path.

There was a dead porpoise on the beach, pretty high up.

Nice minus tide, and long stretches of shallow water, flat sand. Hermit crabs were moving about.

I did pretty good today, for me. Fished the 2st and 3rd holes, going east, and got grabs and a couple of fish too, and some more that released themselves at water's edge. Its pretty gratifying to have a fish on at second cast. I worked south, and got to the 4th hole (about halfway between Seascape and Manresa), where the spinfisherman I met at the lot had been fishing. He was just leaving, and told me that it was full of fish.. fish on every cast. He also showed me some bigger perch, that he was taking home. Looked like 10-11 inchers. I fished this hole, and got a lot of hits, and some fish too. Barred perch and a couple of walleyes. Interestingly, I started to do much better after altering my retrieve, so as to retrieve the line much faster. Didn't really feel the grabs then, but the fish 'autohooked' and stayed on better. Hmm.. All the fish were smallish.. maybe the bigger ones were further out.

I saw an osprey, and a sea otter too. Fun morning. All in all 10 fish, 2 of which were walleyes. A few more brought in close but 'long released'. :) Flies were the #6 'miki' and a peacock herl body zen worm type fly, smaller than the miki. Both attracted fish.
